Police said that a man who was shot early today could be connected to a burglary.

Randy Estrada, 21, is being treated at Toledo Hospital for a gunshot wound to the leg.

Mr. Estrada called police shortly after 5:20 a.m. to report that he'd been shot while walking on Jackman Road, near Berdan Avenue.

His call to 911 came in shortly after Antione Garrett, 34, reported he'd fired multiple shots at someone breaking into his Leybourn Avenue home through a window.

Mr. Garrett and his girlfriend said they were awakened by the sound of someone trying to break into their home, police said.

Mr. Estrada was picked up from his home on Burton Street and taken to the hospital for treatment; his injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Sergeant Heffernan said no charges have been filed against Mr. Garrett.

Police are investigating whether Mr. Estrada was the man breaking into Mr. Garrett's home because of the timing and proximity of when he reported being shot.
