Sweet victory for Michigan

To advance to the Sweet Sixteen, UM coach John Beilein needed his guards to play at the top of their collective game. It was less of a challenge and more of an understanding. Saturday at the Bradley Center, the No. 2 Wolverines turned to their bread and butter in a 79-65 win over No. 7 Texas in an NCAA tournament third-round game. READ MORE.

The majority of a crowd in excess of 4,000 showed up to watch unbeaten Notre Dame and its marquee backcourt tandem. They saw just as much of the team’s bench. Nobody on the top-seeded Irish needed to play major minutes Saturday in a 93-42 thumping of Robert Morris in an NCAA women’s tournament first-round game at the University of Toledo’s Savage Arena. Sun Devils scorch nets to win

Arizona State’s 69-61 victory Saturday over Vanderbilt at the University of Toledo’s Savage Arena may have had a few blemishes, such as 19 turnovers. But when a team shoots 62 percent from the field, as the Sun Devils did in their NCAA women’s basketball tournament first-round game, all those imperfections are easily overlooked.
