Officer shot, suspect killed on Linden Place

Neighbors react to the overnight shootout between Toledo police and a suspect on Linden Place on April 16, 2011. Samuel T. Birch, 24, was being served with a Lucas County felony drug/drug possession warrant at 1:30 a.m. at his residence. When police approached him, he began shooting at officers, hitting one in the leg, according to police. Police shot and killed Birch. The wounded officer was treated and expected to recover.
