Motions in Fremont case answered by prosecutors

11/1/2000

FREMONT - Prosecutors have responded to suppression motions filed by the attorneys for John Michael Robinson, the Sandusky man who is charged in the slaying of two convenience store clerks in separate robberies in April.

Attorneys Adrian Cimerman and John Duffin are objecting to interviews that took place May 2 and 3, saying that Mr. Robinson, 22, was interviewed after he asked for a lawyer. In addition, they claim that evidence from a search of Mr. Robinson's car and a saliva sample were obtained illegally.

Sandusky County Prosecutor John Meyers countered that Mr. Robinson agreed to be interviewed. He also said Mr. Robinson signed a waiver to allow a search of his car, and Judge Harry Sargeant signed an order in Sandusky County Common Pleas Court allowing the saliva sample.

A hearing has been scheduled for Friday afternoon.
