St. Clair Street shut down after water main breaks

11/16/2000

A water main break yesterday in downtown Toledo closed St. Clair Street between Adams and Jackson streets, authorities said.

The break occurred about 2:30 p.m. when a construction crew, boring for an underground utility line, accidentally hit the 12-inch main, Amy Linder, manager of water distribution for the city of Toledo, said.

Toledo Edison Plaza, 300 Madi|son Ave., and the Port Lawrence parking garage, St. Clair and Jefferson Avenue, were without water until a city crew repaired the ruptured main about 9 last night.
