Mercy Health shuffles leadership

3/30/2001

Mercy Health Partners, which operates St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo and St. Charles Mercy Hospital in Oregon, has shuffled positions of some of its top leaders.

Four employees are affected and no one was laid off. Two positions were eliminated, and one was created, Megan Manahan, a Mercy spokeswoman, said.

Scott Shook, president of Riverside Mercy Hospital, becomes senior vice president of strategic initiatives for Mercy Health Partners. Dr. David Franzblau, vice president of medical and academic affairs for Mercy's Toledo-area hospitals, is now chief medical officer for Mercy Health Partners.

Karen Connors, regional vice president of ambulatory and post acute services for Toledo area hospitals, is now president of Riverside Mercy Hospital. Jeffrey Peterson, vice president of professional services for Mercy's Toledo hospitals, becomes executive vice president and chief operating officer of St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center.

Mr. Shook and Dr. Franzblau also were named to the six-member Mercy Health Partner executive council, the strategic decision-making body for Mercy.

Steven Mickus this month became president and chief executive officer of Mercy Health Partners, replacing A. David Jimenez, who was named an executive vice president of Catholic Healthcare Partners responsible for overseeing Mercy hospitals in the Toledo area. He'll also oversee Catholic Healthcare hospitals in southwest Ohio and northern Kentucky.
