A man charged with robbing a bank last week was ordered held without bond by a U.S. District Court magistrate yesterday.

Vaughn D. King, 44, of 833 George St., is accused of stealing an undisclosed amount of money May 16 from the National City Bank branch, 2470 Cherry St.

Police said Mr. King handed a teller a note with a demand for cash. He was captured about 10 minutes later after a brief foot chase.

Magistrate Vernelis Armstrong did not schedule another court date for Mr. King.
