An Indiana truck driver has been indicted by the Lucas County grand jury in the May 20 deaths of three men on I-75 near the Expressway Drive exit in North Toledo.

Calvin Prescott, 76, of Ridgeville, was charged yesterday with three counts of aggravated vehicular homicide and three counts of vehicular assault.

The three people who were killed - Donald Bookwalter, 47; his son, Travis, 22, and James Lenzie, 16, all from Illinois - were passengers in a van that was struck in the rear by a tractor-trailer driven by Mr. Prescott. The vehicles were in the southbound lane of I-75 approaching a construction zone at Phillips Avenue.

The five men in the van were returning home from Port Clinton, where they had been fishing for walleye on Lake Erie. They were headed to the Ohio Turnpike, but got lost and ended up on southbound I-75, police said.
