Cedar Fair's profit drops 65% in quarter

8/3/2001

SANDUSKY - Cedar Fair, L.P. yesterday reported a second-quarter profit of $6.6 million, or 13 cents per limited partner unit, down nearly 65 percent from the $18.6 million, or 36 cents per unit, for the same period last year.

The company, which owns and operates Cedar Point, five other amusement parks, and five water parks, had sales for the quarter of $123.7 million, down 5 percent from $129.5 million for the same period a year ago.

The company blamed its lower numbers on a slowing economy that translated into a 5 percent drop in combined attendance.
