King Kitchen for the Poor to start work on addition

10/10/2001

The Dr. Martin Luther King Kitchen for the Poor, 650 Vance St., begins construction this week on an approximately 400-square-foot addition.

A grant from the Stranahan Foundation will pay the estimated $49,000 cost.

The new space will be used as a food preparation area. The addition will allow more free space in the common room, which houses several refrigerators and food storage units, a spokeswoman for the kitchen said.
