12/22/2001

Three men were arraigned yesterday after they were charged with robbing the First Choice Hair Salon, 715 North Reynolds Rd.

Christopher Kelly, 27, of 1126 Pinebrook Pkwy.; Antwan Oxner, 27, of 1545 Hamilton St., and Craig Criss, 25, of 5555 Lewis Ave., each were charged with one count of aggravated robbery. Each was ordered held in the Lucas County jail in lieu of $30,000 bond.

Toledo police's directed-patrol officers were conducting surveillance in the Reynolds Road area in response to a series of robberies of businesses. About 8:30 p.m., officers spotted a car behind a store on Southwyck Boulevard that was parked with its lights off. They followed it to several businesses along Reynolds until it stopped on Kellogg Road.

Two men got out and entered the salon about 9:20 p.m. Within minutes, they ran from the salon and fled in their car with its headlights off. Police spotted the car, confirmed the robbery, and stopped the vehicle at Hill Avenue and Reynolds. More than $1,000 and a 22-caliber handgun were found in the car, police said.

Investigators said interviews with the suspects yielded information that will allow police to clear several other robberies in the Reynolds Road area. Additional charges are pending.
