Getaway driver receives 7-year prison sentence

LIMA, Ohio -- A Spencerville woman who drove the getaway car for her boyfriend in a series of robberies was sentenced yesterday to seven years in prison.

In a deal with prosecutors, Amy Becker, 18, pleaded guilty last month to one count of aggravated robbery. While the prosecutor recommended a four-year prison term because Becker had cooperated in the case against her boyfriend, Judge Richard Warren of Allen County Common Pleas Court said four years wasn't enough.

Becker drove the getaway car for Dion Florence in at least four holdups this year, including two robberies at Huntington Bank branches in Lima. Florence was sentenced last week by Judge Jeffrey Reed to 22 years in prison.
