Toledo fire battalion chief charged in Maumee

A Toledo fire department battalion chief is scheduled to have a pretrial conference in Maumee Municipal Court Jan. 29 on charges of domestic violence and violating a temporary protection order against his estranged wife.

Eric Renzhofer, 35, who has been ordered to take domestic violence counseling and to call the probation office weekly as a bond condition, pleaded not guilty to both charges related to the alleged incidents in Waterville Township.

Mr. Renzhofer allegedly violated the temporary restraining order last week for trespassing at the 7670 Finzel Rd. home. He is charged with domestic violence after his 36-year-old wife reported an assault on Nov. 3.

A township police officer found his wife, Teresa, at the residence limping on her right leg about 11:10 a.m., a police report said. Mr. Renzhofer, who was picking up his daughters, had an argument with his wife and allegedly “picked her up and dropped her onto her tail end,” the report said. Her right leg scraped against a rear bumper of a vehicle, the report said.
