The State Controlling Board yesterday announced that a $300,000 grant will be given to Neighborhoods in Partnership for the Uptown Apartments, an apartment complex at 14th and Adams streets.

The project, by developers Bruce Douglas of Ottawa Hills and Sam Thomas of Ann Arbor, Mich., is intended to spur Adams Street into an arts corridor between downtown and Uptown. They are investing nearly $5.5 million.

Most of the estimated 65 units will be three-bedroom, two-story townhouses. Parking will be on the ground floor, with apartment entrances on the second and third floors.

Toledo City Council approved a $500,000 loan from federal grant money the city receives to be used toward the construction.
