Grand jury indicts ex-jailer in sex case

A former employee of the Lucas County Correctional Treatment Facility who is accused of having received sexual favors from a female inmate was indicted yesterday by the Lucas County grand jury on three counts of sexual battery.

S.T. Johnson resigned April 4 from his corrections officer's job after an investigation revealed that he allegedly had at least five sexual contacts with a 28-year-old inmate at the center and made comments to other inmates, trying to establish relationships, authorities said.

Two other facility employees were accused of living with former female inmates for a short time. They also resigned.

At least nine employees were investigated in March after a former inmate told a Lucas County Common Pleas Court judge about misconduct at the facility.
