U.S. files indictments against 7 in drug case

Federal authorities filed indictments yesterday against three Toledoans, three Texans, and a Mexican national, charging them with conspiring to possess with intent to distribute cocaine and marijuana.

Rebel L. Frey, 31, of 219 Austin St.; Thomas J. Wagner, 27, of 3921 Willys Pkwy., and Ricardo Ybarra, Jr., 39, of 3059 Dorr St. were named in the indictment filed in the federal court in Toledo.

Also named in the indictment were Alvaro Bazan-Martinez, 32, of Lufkin, Texas; Ernest Trevino, Jr., of Alvin, Texas; Brian E. Vasquez, 29, of Robstown, Texas, and Alfonso Bazan-Martinez, 41, of Mexico.

The U.S. Attorneys office said the case culminated a two-year investigation by the FBI and the Toledo Police Department on drug trafficking activities in the city.

Conviction on the charge carries a maximum penalty of life in prison and a $4 million fine.
