Auto squad detective is investigator of the year

Toledo police auto squad Detective Jim Couch was named investigator of the year by the Ohio Auto Theft Investigators Association during a quarterly seminar in Cleveland this week.

“I'm honored to receive this award, but the individual award doesn't reflect all the work the [auto squad] unit did,” said the detective, who was hired in 1983.

Auto squad Sgt. Paul Hickey submitted the detective's name based on his overall work in the unit and on a recent high-profile investigation.
