Drug charges against ex-policeman dropped

Two misdemeanor drug charges against a former Toledo police officer were dismissed this week. He was found guilty of a misdemeanor drug offense earlier this month in Toledo Municipal Court.

The charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and drug abuse-possession of marijuana, filed against Dale Jackson, 43, a 19-year police veteran, were dismissed Wednesday.

On Oct. 2, Mr. Jackson pleaded no contest and was found guilty of misdemeanor drug abuse, a charge that was amended from a felony offense of drug abuse-possession of crack cocaine. The case was sent to probation for a report. He is to be sentenced Nov. 15.

Mr. Jackson resigned from the department Oct. 1. He was relieved of duty after he was arrested in his home Sept. 9. Investigators serving a search warrant in the home in the Bancroft Street-Westwood Avenue area found a small amount of marijuana and a few smoking pipes, police said. Nine days later, he was charged with having crack cocaine.
