Rossford glass plant to eliminate 50 jobs

About 50 of 430 workers at Pilkington PLC's Rossford glass plant will lose their jobs Dec. 20 after a portion of the factory eliminates its third production shift.

Reductions in orders for glass used in General Motors Corp. and John Deere vehicles prompted the shift change in a portion of the plant employing 158 people, said Pilkington spokesman Roberta Steedman.

The plant's float operations, which makes raw glass and has about 275 employees, will not be affected, she said.
