Dana affiliate in India to move line from Lima

1/9/2003

An Indian affiliate of Dana Corp. plans to buy and move a production line from the Toledo auto supplier's Lima, Ohio, plant, which would eliminate 120 to 125 of the plant's 470 jobs, workers were told this week.

Spicer India Ltd., which is partially owned by Dana, has not completed the purchase, and a timetable for the line's move has not been set. Moving the equipment to make end yokes for light-duty trucks is not likely to be finished until next year, a spokesman said.

Dana announced in June it would sell the Spicer Manufacturing line as part of its plan to restructure and reduce its work force by 11,000 employees.
