Man accused of assault on deputy goes to court

ADRIAN — A Britton, Mich., man, accused of assaulting a Lenawee County sheriff's deputy, was arraigned in District Court yesterday on four charges.

Mark Allen Ireland, 42, is accused of attacking a deputy who was trying to arrest him for doing “doughnuts” with his car at a Tecumseh Township intersection. He is charged with resisting and obstructing a police officer causing injury.

Mr. Ireland is accused of hitting the patrol car and then running into a ditch early Saturday morning .

He also is charged with delivery/manufacture of marijuana, breaking and entering, and larceny in a building for incidents in Tecumseh on Jan. 31.
