City Municipal Court to waive late fees

3/30/2003

Beginning tomorrow, Toledo Municipal Court will waive late fees for residents who pay their fines.

Residents with unpaid fines have until Friday to settle their debts before the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles prevents them from renewing driver's licenses and vehicle registrations.

The court recently used a software program to track all residents with unpaid fines. At the end of 2002, the court had more than 71,000 cases with unpaid fines totaling more than $7.3 million.

A list of people who owe fines is available at the clerk of court's office or online at www.tmc-clerk.com.

Anyone who cannot make it to the court during business hours can resolve their cases at a night court session from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday.
