Trial delayed for man accused in girl's murder

FREMONT — The trial date for a Fremont man accused of raping and killing a neighbor girl was pushed back yesterday during a hearing in Sandusky County Common Pleas Court.

Shaquale Woodhouse, 24, will go on trial Sept. 22 instead of May 14. Mr. Woodhouse is charged with five counts of aggravated murder and one count each of rape, burglary, abuse of a corpse, and tam|pering with evidence in the March 6 slaying of Chanel Barnett, 11. He could be sentenced to death if convicted on the aggravated murder charges.

Woodhouse, who appeared yesterday before Judge James Sherck with his court-appointed attorneys, Adrian Cimerman and John Duffin, waived his right to a speedy trial.
