4/10/2003

PORT CLINTON — A Sidney, Ohio, man has been indicted on seven charges related to three chases last month in Ottawa, Erie, and Lucas counties, the Ottawa County prosecutor's office said yesterday.

Dennis Pitts, 46, was indicted by an Ottawa County grand jury on two counts each of failure to comply with a peace officer and felonious assault on a police officer, and one count each of possession of crack cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and criminal mischief. He has been held in the Ottawa County jail since his arrest March 29.

According to authorities, a motorist drove away from Port Clinton police that morning as they were investigating a report of a suspicious person in the area. He was eventually stopped in Bay Township.
