Lima man gets 27-year term for shooting 7

4/30/2003

LIMA, Ohio - A Lima man was convicted yesterday of wounding seven people in a drive-by shooting and sentenced to 27 years in prison.

Tobias Griffin, 25, was found guilty by Judge Richard Warren of Allen County Common Pleas Court on seven counts of felonious assault, each with a firearm specification, and one count of improperly discharging a weapon into a habitation.

Police said up to 60 shots were fired from automatic weapons into a South Elizabeth Street home on Nov. 24. Griffin, who testified yesterday, told the court he was in the car during the incident but fired no shots.

However, other witnesses during the two-day trial identified Griffin as the man who shot into the home.
