Rudolph man sentenced for child endangering

BOWLING GREEN — A Rudolph, Ohio, man was sentenced to one year in prison Tuesday after pleading guilty to child endangering, a third-degree felony.

John Lamb, 33, pleaded guilty to the charge March 11. According to Wood County Prosecutor Ray Fischer, the charge stemmed from Lamb's abuse of a 15-month-old child left in his care in April, 2001.

The child suffered a broken leg, broken arm, skull fracture, torn ears, and numerous bruises before being taken to Wood County Hospital by his mother. Mr. Fischer said hospital doctors recognized the injuries as child abuse and notified authorities.

Carolyn Clabaugh, the child's mother, was convicted earlier of misdemeanor child en|dan|ger|ing and was sentenced to probation after it was determined that she had not caused the abuse but had failed to protect the child once she knew he was at risk.

Mr. Fischer said the child has been adopted by relatives and is doing very well.
