12 municipal swimming pools to open in city today

The 12 swimming pools operated by Toledo's Department of Parks, Recreation, and Forestry open today.

The city's four large pools are:

Detwiler, 3901 290th St.

Highland, 1800 South Ave.

Ravine, 290 Dearborn Ave.

Willys, 1375 Hillcrest Ave.

They will be open from noon to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Sundays. Admission is free for children 5 and under, 75 cents for children ages 6-12, $1.50 for anyone over 12, and 75 cents for senior citizens.

The city's six junior pools, designed for ages 13 and under, are:

Ashley, 141 Knower St.

Collins, 624 Reineck Dr.

Navarre, 1001 White St.

Pickford, 3000 Medford Dr.

Jamie Farr, 2000 Summit St.

Wilson, 3253 Otto St.

They will be open from noon to 6 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays. Admission is free.

The medium-size Roosevelt pool, 910 Dorr St., is open from noon to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Sundays. All ages are welcome, and admission is free.

The water play park at Savage, 645 Vance St., is open from noon to 6 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays. All ages are welcome, and admission is free.

At all 12 city pools, children 7 and younger must be accompanied by an adult.

The pools will remain open through Aug. 15, officials said.
