Police class for seniors will graduate 14 today

6/20/2003

Fourteen people will graduate today from Toledo police's fourth Retired Senior Volunteer Patrol class after 20 hours of training this week.

The graduation will be at noon at the Toledo Police Academy's training facility at Owens Community College. The RSVP program began in September, 2000, and is a joint effort between police and the Area Office on Aging of Northwest Ohio.

Senior volunteers do house checks on shut-ins or disabled citizens and check residences for people who are away on vacation. The program has 35 volunteers, not including the new members, and 96 clients, said Officer Anita Madison, the RSVP coordinator.
