HILLSDALE —A Tekonsha, Mich., man was sentenced yesterday to 40 to 60 months in prison on convictions related to methamphetamine production.

During an appearance in Hillsdale County Circuit Court, Jason Burr Hursley, 24, received concurrent terms on three counts of attempted possession of a chemical used to make methamphetamine.

Hursley was arrested March 29 when he was caught trying to steal anhydrous ammonia from a farm supply store in Litchfield, Mich. Anhydrous ammonia is a component in making methamphetamine, an addictive drug that is classified as a stimulant.

As part of his sentence, Hursley was ordered to pay restitution of $270 to The Andersons store on Homer Road, which was victimized by several thefts of anhydrous ammonia earlier this year.
