NAPOLEON — A capital-murder trial that was scheduled to begin next week has been delayed until February after the defendant requested new counsel.

Attorneys William Kluge and John Sabol of Lima were appointed to represent Damien Jenkins, who's accused of killing his father in 2000. Previously, Toledo attorneys Ronald Wingate and Donald Cameron handled the case.

Mr. Jenkins, 22, is charged with aggravated murder with gun specifications in the death of Ernest Jenkins, 45. The elder Mr. Jenkins was found in the parking lot of the Riverview Estates apartment complex near State Rt. 424, where he lived.

Court officials said yesterday that a pretrial in the case is scheduled for Oct. 29, with the trial slated to begin on Feb. 23.
