Vote again delayed on OC bankruptcy plan

A judge has once again delayed the start of voting on Owens Corning's bankruptcy-exit proposal.

Judge Judith Fitzgerald, of U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Wilmington, Del., put off until Nov. 17 a decision on a telephone-book-sized disclosure statement that will accompany voting materials that will be sent to thousands of creditors in the three-year-old Chapter 11 case, a lawyer in the case said.

OC officials had hoped for a decision on the matter at a hearing Monday. But Judge Fitzgerald said the parties did not have enough time to review provisions involving an asbestos-claims-payment trust fund that is a key part of OC's reorganization proposal, spokesman Dave Dimmer said.
