TIFFIN — A Fremont man was found guilty yesterday in Seneca County Common Pleas Court for felony escape after he failed to return to the CROSSWAEH Community Based Corrections Facility.

Keith Gaskins, 37, was found guilty of escape, a third-degree felony, following a two-day jury trial. According to county Prosecutor Ken Egbert, Gaskins was attending a counseling program in Tiffin with other inmates when he broke his detention and failed to return to the facility.

Gaskins had been ordered to complete the program as part of his previous felony theft conviction in Seneca County Common Pleas Court.

The jury deliberated for less than 30 minutes before returning a guilty verdict. Gaskins faces one to five years in prison at sentencing, which has not yet been set.
