Indiana resident guilty in Convoy bank holdup

VAN WERT - An Indiana man was convicted yesterday for his role in the Jan. 6 holdup of the U.S. Bank branch in the village of Convoy.

Derrick Briggs, 19, of Fort Wayne was found guilty of complicity to commit aggravated robbery following a two-day trial in Van Wert County Common Pleas Court. He is to be sentenced May 26.

A co-defendant, Michael Sanders, pleaded guilty to aggravated robbery Feb. 4 but has not yet been sentenced.

Based on witnesses' descriptions, the pair was arrested within 20 minutes of the holdup by Convoy police.
