Toledo police auctioned 86 abandoned vehicles and 11 forfeited vehicles yesterday, yielding $151,175.
The highest bid, $16,200, was for a forfeited 2003 Harley-Davidson Electra Glide, followed by a bid of $12,000 for a 1991 Corvette. The highest bid for an abandoned vehicle was $4,750 for a Ford Econoline van.
The lowest bid - $100 - was for an abandoned 1986 Pontiac Fiero.
The auction had 307 registered bidders.
The money raised by the forfeited vehicle auction, $56,550, will go to the law enforcement trust fund. The abandoned vehicle auction brought in $94,625. After tow and storage fees are paid for the abandoned vehicles, the city's general operating fund will net about $40,000, Officer Kathy Trautman said.
The third auction of the year likely will be held in late summer.
