Pavement collapse cuts Point Place water main

7/23/2004

A pavement collapse at a sewer repair project broke a water main in Point Place yesterday, leaving part of a neighborhood without water service.

An area bounded by 302nd, Summit, 128th, and 136th streets was without water. Service was expected to be restored by early today.

Residents in the affected area were to be advised to boil drinking and cooking water throughout the weekend, pending quality tests on Monday.

Bob Stevenson, Toledo s public utilities director, said the work on a sewer line on 132nd Street, north of 302nd, undermined the street s pavement. A slab of it fell, striking the eight-inch waterline about 6 p.m.

The sewer work was likely to be delayed by a day or two while the trench was stabilized.
