Judge ousted from OC case joins adviser's law firm

NEWARK, N.J. - Alfred Wolin, who had to stop overseeing the asbestos-related bankruptcies Owens Corning of Toledo, USG Corp., and W.R. Grace & Co. because creditors questioned his ties to an adviser on the cases has joined the adviser's law firm.

Mr. Wolin, 71, who retired recently as a U.S. district judge, will be at Saiber Schlesinger Satz & Goldstein LLC here, according to the firm.

David Gross, a lawyer at the firm, was one of three advisers whose role in the bankruptcies led to Mr. Wolin's ouster by a three-judge panel of the U.S. Third Circuit Court of Appeals May 17.

The law firm disclosed the hiring to U.S. District Judge John Fullam in Philadelphia, who was appointed to take Mr. Wolin's place overseeing the Owens Corning case.

Judge Fullam scheduled a hearing today to consider a creditor's request to force Mr. Gross and the other advisers to forfeit their consulting fees.
