Earnings: 2nd-quarter results slip at Cedar Fair

8/3/2004

SANDUSKY - Cedar Fair LP, which owns Cedar Point and six other amusement and five water parks nationwide, said yesterday that its second-quarter profit dropped on smaller revenues, which it attributed to poor weather.

The company said profit of $13.2 million, or 25 cents a share, for the quarter was down from $16.7 million, or 33 cents a share, for the period a year ago. Revenues were down to $145 million from $145.2 million. But, excluding its newly purchased Geauga Lake amusement park, revenues were down 5 percent and attendance was off 8 percent from a year ago. Only visitor spending was up, 3 percent from a year earlier.
