4 to appear in court in Monroe

MONROE - Pretrial hearings have been scheduled for four people arrested on drug and other charges during a pair of routine traffic stops by Michigan State Police.

In the first incident, troopers from the Monroe post stopped a vehicle at 6:45 a.m. Sunday leaving the I-75 rest area just south of Exit 11. During a search of the vehicle, troopers found a quarter pound of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. The driver was arrested for driving with a suspended license. Possession with intent to deliver marijuana charges are pending him and a male passenger. Both are from Flint, Mich.

In the second incident, troopers from the Monroe post stopped a vehicle at 6 p.m. Sunday on Telegraph Road north of the Ohio border. During a search of the vehicle, troopers found marijuana and rock cocaine. Later, during a search of the driver at the Monroe County Jail, additional cocaine was discovered.

The driver, a Toledoan, was arrested for driving with a suspended license and displaying fraudulent license plates. Drug charges are pending against the driver and a female passenger, also a Toledo resident.

The suspects are to appear in Monroe District Court tomorrow on the traffic offenses. Troopers declined to release the names until the suspects are arraigned.
