Woman who set fatal fire gets 19-years-to-life term

10/2/2004

LIMA, Ohio - A Lima woman who set a fire that killed her ex-boyfriend was sentenced yesterday to 19 years to life in prison by Allen County Common Pleas Judge Richard Warren.

Yvonne Gipson, 41, was found guilty of murder and two counts of aggravated arson following a jury trial in August.

She set fire Dec. 31, 2003, to a sofa and mattress inside Michael Gibson's home, a garage that had been converted to living quarters. It was a second arson on New Year's Day there that killed Mr. Gibson, 25. He died from smoke inhalation.
