Michigan man gets prison in friend's death

A 64-year-old Camden, Mich., man was sentenced yesterday in Hillsdale Circuit Court to 57 to 120 months in state prison for his role in the June 25 shooting of Larry Manifold, 60, also of Camden.

Walter Morr and Mr. Manifold had been drinking together while working on a vehicle at Morr's Territorial Road home when an argument broke out. Morr shot Mr. Manifold with a 22-caliber handgun that was later found buried on the Morr property. Morr was found guilty of assault with intent to do great bodily harm.

Morr's wife, Brenda-Botten Morr, 38, was sentenced to a week in jail after she pleaded no contest to a charge of resisting and obstructing a police officer. Mr. Manifold recovered from his injuries, authorities said.
