BOWLING GREEN - A Bowling Green State University football player charged with threatening a city police officer pleaded no contest yesterday to a reduced charge of disorderly conduct with persistence.

Jimmy Lee Carson, Jr., 19, was ordered to pay a fine and court costs of $335 by Bowling Green Municipal Court Judge Mark Reddin. Judge Reddin also ordered Mr. Carson to pay a fine and court costs of $90 for having unauthorized license plates. An additional count of unauthorized plates and having a loud amplification system were both dismissed.

Mr. Carson was arrested Sept. 6 for menacing after Officer Jessica McClure stopped him for the second time in two days for driving with illegal plates. According to a police report, Mr. Carson told her he was going to shoot her.
