6/15/2005

Pilkington North America Inc. said yesterday it is reviewing each of 15 safety violations that federal regulators cited at its Rossford glass plant, but said it will work to correct the problems.

The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration issued the citations Monday in response to a January inspection.

The agency found problems with bypassing of machine safeguards, one of which was considered willful, or intentional. It levied a $105,300 fine.

The company has 15 days to appeal, although the firm did not indicate it would do so.

Pilkington s efforts to make safety a primary objective and integral part of its corporate culture has been refl ected in our overall performance in this area, the fi rm said in a statement.
