Public invited for session on Marina District design

6/25/2005

The community at large is invited this morning to participate in a planning session for the design of the proposed Marina District in East Toledo.

The event, called a charette, is from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Weber Block Building, Front and Main streets. About 30 people, including Toledo architects and architects for Marina District developer Pizzuti Cos., are expected to participate, city officials said.

The charette is an effort by the developer to gather the opinions of local residents about how to design elements of the project.

The 125-acre planned development between Front and the Maumee River and between the I-280 and Martin Luther King, Jr., bridges is to include a passenger marine terminal, a marina, apartments, condominiums, a large retail anchor, and an arena or other entertainment anchor.
