Bellevue man gets 4 years for stealing painkiller

FREMONT A Bellevue, Ohio, man was sentenced yesterday to four years in prison for stealing more than $2,000 worth of a powerful painkiller from a Fremont pharmacy.

Mark Eddington, 20, was given the prison term by Judge Harry Sargeant, Jr., of Sandusky County Common Pleas Court, for one count of robbery. The judge also ordered him to make restitution of $2,228.59.

Eddington, who pleaded guilty to the charge in July, took 13 bottles of OxyContin during a May 1 robbery at the Kroger pharmacy on Oak Harbor Road.

Mark Eddington and his brother, Brian Eddington, 23, also of Bellevue, were arrested May 3 for the Kroger robbery and a similar theft of OxyContin from the Pamida Pharmacy in Bellevue on April 25.

Both men are awaiting sentencing in Huron County Common Pleas Court for the Bellevue robbery; Brian Eddington is to be sentenced Sept. 28 for the Fremont heist.

During yesterday s hearing, Judge Sherck also sentenced Mark Eddington to a concurrent 11-month term for forgery for making and trying to pass a counterfeit $20 bill at a Fremont business in April.
