Wood County sentences 3 men in large meth ring

BOWLING GREEN Three men who were convicted on charges related to a large methamphetamine ring in southern Wood County were sentenced Monday in Wood County Common Pleas Court.

Christopher Smith, 25, of Swanton was placed on community control for three years and ordered to perform 500 hours of community service and pay a $2,500 fine by Judge Reeve Kelsey.

Smith had pleaded guilty in September to engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity.

Gerald Papenfuss, 37, of Fostoria and Timothy Rhodes, 30, of Bloomdale, were placed on community control for two years and ordered to perform 300 hours of community service.

Papenfuss and Rhodes had pleaded guilty to the illegal assembly or possession of chemicals for the manufacture of drugs.

Judge Kelsey suspended Papenfuss s driver s license for six months and ordered him to pay a $5,000 fine. The judge suspended Rhodes license for one year and ordered him to pay a $1,000 fine.
