Law department swaps space with 2 city agencies

Toledo's law department Wednesday began a move from the 22nd floor of Government Center to the 17th floor, in a switch with two other city agencies.

Mayor Carty Finkbeiner ordered the move so the economic development department, which he heads, and the enlarged youth commission can be closer to him on the 22nd floor.

John Madigan, acting law director, said the move won't change the mayor's access to the law department, or vice versa, even though the law department has been on the same floor as the mayor since the building opened in 1983.

Teresa Graven, the mayor's public information coordinator, said the move has minimal costs because no new furniture was purchased and the work is being done by the city's division of facility and fleet operations.
