An East Toledo man who was drunk when he ran a red light and killed an 81-year-old woman was convicted yesterday in Lucas County Common Pleas Court.

Lance E. Kincaid, 42, of 1324 Felt St., pleaded no contest to one count each of aggravated vehicular homicide and aggravated vehicular assault. He was found guilty by Judge Thomas Osowik, who scheduled sentencing for May 10.

The convictions stem from a Feb. 15, 2005, collision at State Rt. 2 and Coy Road. Kincaid failed to stop for a red light, colliding with the car of Gertrude Koepke, who was turning left. Mrs. Koepke, of 229 Trails End, Oregon, was killed and two passengers were injured.

Assistant County Prosecutor Jeff Lingo said Kincaid's blood-alcohol content was 0.136 percent, nearly twice the 0.08 percent legal limit for a motorist in Ohio. He faces a mandatory prison sentence of two to eight years for the aggravated vehicular homicide conviction and one to five years on the aggravated vehicular assault conviction.
