Pavement problem adds to Monroe Street woes

4/2/2006

Decayed pavement on part of Monroe Street near the Toledo Museum of Art, where half the road is closed for reconstruction, will require a continuing detour of westbound traffic through April, the city transportation division said.

Two-way, single-lane traffic was set up in February on what is normally the westbound side of Monroe between Collingwood Boulevard and Lawrence Avenue so reconstruction of the eastbound side could begin. But in mid-March, a pavement patch at the sewer repair site began breaking up, prompting a detour for westbound traffic at Collingwood. City officials said the repairs will not befinished until about May 1. Monroe remains open to eastbound traffic only in the area.
