ADRIAN A former Lenawee County sheriff s deputy will serve at least four years in prison on identity-theft charges.

Timothy Holtz, Sr., 48, was sentenced yesterday in Lenawee County Circuit Court by Judge Harvey Koselka.

Holtz stole the identities of two men he pulled over for drunken driving last year, created bogus checks from their identities, then bought about $10,000 worth of goods, authorities said. Among charges Holtz pleaded guilty to last month were two counts of identity theft and four counts of using a computer to commit a crime.

Holtz currently is serving a prison term after being found guilty of similar charges last year in a Washtenaw County case. He was employed 26 years as a deputy before leaving the department last year.
