Business owner pleads not guilty

A local businessman pleaded not guilty to charges of driving while impaired and is scheduled to appear in Perrysburg Municipal Court for a pretrial conference June 13.

Christopher Frick's attorney waived his client's arraignment yesterday and entered the plea for him. Mr. Frick, 38, of 25976 Edinborough Circle is charged with two counts of operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or another substance, a first-degree misdemeanor, and one count of failure to control, a minor misdemeanor.

He was arrested Tuesday at his home in Perrysburg's Carrington Woods subdivision and accused of damaging property with his truck while driving under the influence.

About 10 people, one of whom called police, gathered on Carrington Boulevard early Tuesday evening as a driver attempted to drive his pickup truck out of a ditch, said Carrington resident Steven Lockom, who had followed the truck after he heard it hit his mailbox.

According to police reports, the truck hit several mailboxes and three trees along Carrington. It also knocked down a speed limit and no-parking sign and a streetlight.

Mr. Lockom said that with no sidewalks in the neighborhood, children often play at the edge of the street.

No one was hurt in Tuesday's incident.

Police retrieved a side mirror, headlight cover, and Ford emblem from various yards along Carrington.

A police officer arriving at the scene noted damage on both sides of Carrington from Stonehaven Drive to Edinborough and saw the truck pulling into Mr. Frick's driveway.

Mr. Frick was convicted of reckless operation, a fourth-degree misdemeanor, in 2003, according to Perrysburg Municipal Court records.

He owns Mr. Beefy's American Roadhouse, located in Perrysburg and Oregon. He is the former co-owner of Jed's Barbeque & Brew Restaurants.
